Zeilen Van Vrijheid Privacy Policy

This is the privacy statement of Zeilen van Vrijheid, a non-profit foundation with a full legal capacity, registered at Keizersgracht 391A, 1016 EJ, Amsterdam, the Chamber of Commerce number 85736619 (hereinafter referred to as ‘We’, ‘Us’, ‘Our’ or ‘Zeilen van Vrijheid’).


This statement is applicable to the processing of personal data when you're using our website, located at https://zeilenvanvrijheid.nl/ (‘Website’).

  1. Gathering and processing of your personal data

1.1. Automatically collected data

You can view our Website without providing your personal data to us. However, we will automatically receive certain technical data when you enter our Website. Such data includes:

When you register as a member or a donor, you will be asked to leave some of your personal data. Such data includes:

Contact data: email address

When you provide Zeilen van Vrijheid with your email address as a member or a donor and opt in for receiving our updates, you will be notified by email about our work, to ask you to support campaigns, to inform you of results and for incidental requests for a contribution.


If you would like to receive fewer emails or none at all, or if you are no longer interested in participating in our campaign networks, you can unsubscribe from these emails at any time via the unsubscribe options in every message that you receive from us.

Bank data: your name with card information, and payment information

We use various payment services for online payments. Please be aware of the privacy policies of these services under the following links:


Information about your transaction, donation or payment is gathered to fulfil an agreement (donation or membership). This information includes amounts donated, date(s) of donation(s), method of donation and bank account number (in case of a direct bank transaction). We use this information to maintain records of donations, to comply with the law or with any legal process, to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make more accurate budget projections, to develop strategies, to issue donation acknowledgements, to understand donors’ interests in our mission, to inform planning about who receives future fundraising appeals and to organize and promote fundraising events.

2. How do we share and disclose data?

We do not share and disclose your contact data, your bank data, or information on your payment(s) to any third parties under this Statement. However, we may share your personal data under the conditions of Safety, Legal purposes, and Law enforcement. We will disclose your personal data to third parties to the extent necessary to:

  • comply with a government request, a court order or applicable law

  • defend ourselves against third-party claims

  • assist in fraud prevention or investigation

No personal data is supplied to a company or organisation located in a country outside of the European Union that does not offer an adequate level of protection and does not meet the other obligations from the AVG.

3. Your rights

3.1. Rectification and erasure

You can submit a request to Zeilen van Vrijheid using our email address (info@zeilenvanvrijheid.nl) to change the information we gather on you. You can also ask Zeilen van Vrijheid to delete your information (‘right to be forgotten). You can do this by submitting a request to erase the information by emailing to info@zeilenvanvrijheid.nl. Zeilen van Vrijheid is obliged to verify your identity before we can grant access to your personal data in our records. Zeilen van Vrijheid will contact you by phone for verification. Note that there is some data that Zeilen van Vrijheid is unable to delete, such as in the event of a financial relationship (membership, donation) and the seven-year record-keeping obligation pursuant to tax laws.

3.1. Access and data portability

You are entitled to ask at any time to access the data we gather on you. You can do this by submitting this request that includes your full name, address, telephone number and email address by emailing this to info@zeilenvanvrijheid.nl. In line with your right to data portability, you will receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format. Zeilen van Vrijheid is obliged to verify your identity before we can grant access to your personal data in our records. Zeilen van Vrijheid will contact you by phone for verification.

3.1. Withdraw consent

You can withdraw any consent you have given Zeilen van Vrijheid for a certain processing activity (such as receiving our newsletter) at any time.

4. Security

We provide appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data we process and maintain. For example, the data that we receive is available only to authorized personnel. We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose of the data processing in accordance with this Statement.

5. How do we update this Statement

Our foundation is growing and our practices may change over time. If we decide to update our Privacy Policy, we will post the changes on our Website. If we change the way we process your personal data, we will provide you with prior notice, or where legally required, request your consent prior to implementing such changes. We strongly encourage you to read our Privacy Notice and keep yourself informed of our practices.
